The International Association of Ice Cream Distributors and Vendors is a professional organization dedicated to the education and communication of responsible and ethical practice in the ice cream distributing and vending industry, and strives to promote and enhance the quality, image for safe ice cream vending to ensure the future success of the industry.

The goals and objectives of the International Association of Ice Cream Distributors and Vendors are:

• To encourage, promote, develop and safeguard in all lawful ways, the interests and welfare of the members.

• To gather and disseminate useful information regarding the various phases of the ice cream industry.

The Association was founded in 1969 as the National Association of Ice Cream Vendors (NAICV). It later became knows as the International Association of Ice Cream Vendors (IAICV). In 2008, the organization formally welcomed Distributors, changing the name to the International Association of Ice Cream Distributors and Vendors (IAICDV).

The Max “Mickey” Schwartz Memorial Award was created to recognize those Association members who demonstrated a lifelong and exemplarily dedication to the ice cream and street vending business. The recipients are:

• 1992 Durant “Doc” Abernathy
• 2000 Steve Feldman

In 2009, the IAICDV created a Hall of Fame to commemorate those who have been instrumental in the development and sustainability of the IAICDV and the industry.  The Hall will serve to honor those whose creativity, ingenuity and passion have shaped the industry. The Hall of Fame will also preserve the history of the industry and the association for future generations.The 2009 inductees to the Hall of Fame are:

• Durant “Doc” Abernathy
• Manny Ginsberg
• Jim Conway
• Bill Conway
• Jay Schwartz
• Al Reynolds
