IDFA has a membership of 530 companies representing a $110-billion a year industry and is composed of three constituent organizations: the Milk Industry Foundation, the National Cheese Institute and the International Ice Cream Association.
During her 28 year career with IDFA, Ms. Tipton has held a leadership role in virtually all areas of the association, including: legislative and international affairs, economic policy analysis, communications and public relations, marketing programs, education and training, trade shows, policy, budget formulation and office management. After joining IDFA in 1981, Ms. Tipton was promoted to vice president in 1989, to senior vice president in 1994, and to senior group vice president in 1999. She was promoted to executive vice president in 2003 and became president and chief executive officer in January 2004.
Throughout her tenure, Ms. Tipton has accomplished many positive measures for the dairy industry. She helped to launch the well-known annual Capitol Hill Ice Cream Party and encouraged legislation that created the famous "milk mustache" campaign. Ms. Tipton also led successful legislative campaigns to lessen government involvement in regulations that reduce dairy product marketability. She helped to build the industry's political action committee, Ice Cream, Milk & Cheese PAC, and she continues to promote policies that allow greater competition and growth in dairy markets.
Ms. Tipton is a member of the Agriculture Policy Advisory Committee to the Secretary of Agriculture and serves on the board of BIPAC, a broad business-oriented political action committee. She is past chair of the Bryce Harlow Foundation Board, a group that provides scholarships and leadership in professional advocacy. Ms. Tipton also serves on the Board of the Capitol Hill Day School. In 2009, Ms. Tipton was named Association Executive of the Year by Association Trends magazine, a national publication serving the trade association industry. In addition, Ms. Tipton previously was named one of the top trade association lobbyists in Washington by two Capitol Hill publications.
Prior to joining IDFA, Tipton served as development officer of the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., where she managed the gallery's planning and fundraising activities. She also served as special gifts director for the United Way campaigns in both Washington, D.C., and Columbus, Ohio. Tipton is originally from Dayton, Ohio, and attended Ohio State University in Columbus.

Summer Song Celebrates 50th Anniversary
As the year 2009 draws to a close it is the IAICDV's honor to recognize a remarkable achievement in the ice cream vending industry, the 50th Anniversary of Summer Song.
Tom Renwald Sr. began Summer Song in 1959 with a fleet of tricycle pedal carts in Northern Indiana. Flash forward fifty years later, and the Renwald family has built the business into one of the largest ice cream truck operations in North America with over 8 locations and over 250 vending vehicles available for lease throughout Indiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Michigan.
Along with the ice cream vending business the Renwald family has developed one of the largest ice cream vending machine companies in North America.
Summer Song and the Renwald family are long time members of the IAICDV with many contributions to the association, including Tom Renwald Jr.'s service on the Board of Directors.
Fifty years in the ice cream business, or any business for that matter, is a tremendous feat of longevity and success. This is a true testament to the hard work and perseverance of Tom Renwald Sr., Tom Renwald Jr., Ed Renwald, along with the whole Renwald family.
IAICDV Name Change
For the first 30 years of it’s existence the International Association of Ice Cream Vendors (IAICV) membership was substantially composed of ice cream manufacturers and two types of vending companies. Those that owned fleets of Ice Cream Trucks and Push-Carts that were available for lease to independent mobile ice cream vendors, and those companies who sought to provide goods and services to independent mobile ice cream vendors.
As times have progressed, more and more members have added to their traditional vending business by expanding into the ice cream distribution channel - servicing schools, convenience stores, food service, retail, vending machines, special events, and all other opportunities.
As such, in 2008 the IAICV changed its name to the International Association of Ice Cream Distributors and Vendors (IAICDV) to more accurately represent its membership to all industry members and stakeholders.
Another benefit to our recent name change is to broaden our reach by including those companies that are involved exclusively in ice cream distribution. Our association is greatly benefited by becoming more inclusive and increasing the diversity of our membership.
While the IAICDV now strives to balance its goals and objectives between the ice cream vending and distribution channel, the IAICDV strongly works to preserve its traditional mission in the ice cream vending channel.
